At Westside Dental Center, we’ll be opening back up on May 11th. We want to ensure that we’ll be following the strictest infection control guidelines. Our goal is to provide all of our patients with the highest quality of care using the latest technology. Dr. Uttma Dham and her team are attentive and accommodating to all patients and exceed all safety and health protocols. Learn more about the guidelines we have in place.
Stricter Safety Guidelines
We’re proud to say that both our safety and infection control protocols have always exceeded the recommendations of the ADA and CDC. Our office provides one of a kind safety for every patient that comes in for treatment. However, with COVID-19, we’ve added even more safety measures to make sure both employees and patients are completely safe and can feel secure.
Following the CDC guidelines, all of us will be wearing the proper PPE (personal protective equipment) and taking care to change it when required. We’re also only allowing one person in the reception area at a time. Patients will be asked to wait in their car until they’re ready to be brought in for treatment.
Upon coming into the office, every patient will be required to answer a series of screening questions and getting their temperature checked. They’ll also be asked to sanitize their hands.
In our office, we’ve added medical-grade air purifiers in both the reception areas and operatories. These have built-in UVC light to disinfect the air. In our AC units, we’ve added air-purifying generators with UVC light to kill any viruses and bacteria due to aerosols produced in the office. We’ve incorporated a fogging machine that’ll spray disinfectant at the end of each day to kill viruses and bacteria.
As always, we follow and exceed the standards set by the CDC and ADA for equipment and instrument sterilization. Any device that has to be reused between patients is heat sterilized after every patient. Many tools and devices also have disposable coverings so that each patient is getting a fresh one for their procedure.
The Importance of Dentistry
Dentistry services are crucial to both your oral and overall health. Something as simple as a bi-annual cleaning and checkup contains a long list of benefits. It helps to deep clean your teeth and gums, preventing tooth decay and gum disease. Your dentist is also trained to notice early signs of things like oral cancer that you may not notice. The earlier something is diagnosed, the easier it is to treat.
Your oral health is also tied to your overall health. For example, if you have gum disease, it causes a lot of problems with the rest of your body. Gum disease causes inflammation, which is the root of many major diseases. If you have gum disease, you have a higher likelihood of having a stroke, developing heart disease, and even death. Making sure your oral health is properly tended to is very important.
